Two Hundred and Wren

Welcome to the two hundred and tenth installment of The Zero Room! The entertainment industry tends to slow down around Thanksgiving, so there isn’t all that much in the way of exciting news this week. You know it’s slow when we’re talking about the Video Game Awards. Also some box office, writers for one or both of the Star Wars sequels, and lots of talk about X-COM. Listen to the end to discover which iPad game made Jose cry!

Whatever You Do…Don’t. Sneeze.

Here’s the trailer for the Doctor Who Christmas special this year, “The Snowmen.” This time we’re supposed to be afraid of the snow. I think we’ve talked about how we are tired of Moffat turning the mundane into monsters or threats. I’d like to see him get back to the more original types of stories like “The Empty Child” or “Girl in the Fireplace”. Those episodes feel at lot more like Doctor Who and don’t fall back on the same trick every time.

Oh, we did a show this week and it was good. Also you can find us on Trek FM this week talking about Enterprise.

Two Hundred and Kate

The train keeps rollin’! This episode (which Jose almost lost in an alcohol-fueled stupor) is short on news but long on talking. There’s our reaction to Mark Wahlberg starring in Transformers 4, a screenwriter for Star Wars 7, and a look at the trailer for World War Z. Then we move on to talk about Skyfall, which both Jose and I loved.

That Shot Was One In A Million

Not much more to say about this weeks event, but we manage to get a few words out about the EPIC sale of Star Wars to the Empire of the Mouse. There’s no doubt that this will be a day long remembered by nerds everywhere, as if a million voices cried out in terror and suddenly got really excited about the future of the king of all franchises. Now, it’s time to get ready for three long years of speculation and nitpicking before we see what this alliance has wrought.
